This involves the use of SXT images of active regions and a flare, (or maybe more than one) to compare with time profiles of particle flux during the detection of a giant magnetic cloud by the WIND spacecraft from 18-oct-95 to 20-oct-95. We are searching for flares in the given AR's that correspond to interplanetary type III events observed while the spacecraft was in the cloud; at least 2 B class and one M class flare were seen by GOES during this time. If we know the location of the flares on the disk, we can find the footpoints of the cloud. The results will be presented at the Spring AGU meeting in Baltimore.
