System considerations

• Mass – overall mass of EIS is limited to ~60kg

• Power – total peak power consumption limited to ~50W

• Radiation – all components need to be radiation hard – must have good heritage

• Thermal considerations

  • Thermal variation must be kept to 0-20 degrees C
  • Thermal input from Sun means Aluminium filters required to reject most of the light from the telescope – very fragile
